The 10 Weeks Gift Card Give Away to Support Small Businesses has Concluded - Here is how we did
As we are stepping into 2021 and the 10 Week Gift Card Give Away program has come to an end I wanted to send you a little update as I'm reflecting back.
You may already know it all started in October, when it was apparent that we are entering into phase 2 of the Covid-19 caused pandemic in Ontario, and more specificaly in Toronto, York Region and surrounding areas.
We have all witnessed during the restrictions in the Spring that are taking a toll on small businesses. Some already had to close their doors, and other ones doing their best to stay afloat. After having some personal conversations I felt that I needed to do something to help.
The program started with my commitment until the end of this year, to invest in 10 $50 Gift Cards to Small Businesses in our/my community, and give them away by a draw, 1 gift card each week. My goal was to help 10 small businesses, raise awareness and encourage others to support small businesses, and help 10 families with their Christmas gifting. With incoming support & generosity from other businesses and some great friends I was able to do much more than that.
We were able to directly support 16 Small Businesses, had 35 lucky individuals who won gift cards and/or gift baskets right in time for Christmas/New Years, over $2000 was put back into the economy. I know it is not much, but every little helps .... and more importantly we have managed to create a ripple effect by inspiring others to step up and help Small Businesses.

This program has come to an end however the pandemic lock down continues and the toll on Small Businesses is far from being over. At this time, there is no end in sight of the pandemic that has caused this hardship, therefore I'm asking, please continue to support your local corner store, your favorite restaurant and so forth. If we all stick together, we come out stronger when this is all over.
