The study on Generation Z conducted by Point2 unveiled the multifaceted priorities of this demographic, emphasizing their strong focus on mental health, work-life balance, environmental consciousness, and financial stability. Interestingly, the study examined various metrics favoring Canada’s major cities to attract and retain these savvy professionals. Contrary to common assumptions, smaller, tightly-knit, and slower-paced cities often outperformed larger urban centers in providing elements like affordable housing, lower living costs, work-life balance, and perceived mental health.

Among Canada’s 50 largest cities, the study showcased smaller cities dominating the top positions for Gen Z-related metrics, with only Montréal from the major hubs securing a notable standing. Remarkably, eight of the top 10 cities, highly conducive for young adults to flourish, boasted populations below 300,000, with some even under 200,000 inhabitants.
