The end of January has marked my ninth year into this wonderful
business of Real Estate. A choice of career that was the natural consequence
for me from my previous lines of work and business.
As I was reflecting back, it occurred to me that when I was
attending OREA College to get my real estate license, there were approximately
26,000 licensed REALTORS® within the Toronto Real Estate Board. That
number has more than tripled to today as there are over 80,000 REALTORS®
registered with TRREB.
Statistics show year after year, and you may be very surprised to
learn, that about 73% of REALTORS® sell or buy only one or zero homes
throughout the year. Which means that 27% of the REALTORS® sell two
or more homes per year. It is safe to say that approximately 15% of REALTORS®
are working full time.
As with any profession, care, dedication, education, practice and
support, among other things, are needed to gain the knowledge and experience to
become successful.
But what is success? I believe that success means something
different to all of us...
To me success means that I am able to help someone advance in
something that is important to them. It means that my first-time home buyer
clients had successfully secured a property for themselves and are on their way
to financial prosperity. It means that my retiring clients have successfully
transitioned into their lower maintenance home, or my move up buyers have secured
their dream home - their forever home. It also means that my investor clients
have successfully invested in properties and are on their way to financial
freedom.
And when I review my own statistics as to how I did my job
compared to the other 80,000 REALTORS® on TRREB, this is also where
I feel successful myself.
According to TRREB statistics in the year 2020:
*My Buyer Clients had paid 0.94% lower than average ($8,336 less
per home sold) on their Purchases.
*My Seller Clients had got 4.06% higher than average ($34,578 more
per home sold) on the Sale of their Home.
They say that, "When you love what you do, you will never
work a day in your life." I would add to that, that when you come
from a place of care and are passionate about helping people, their success
becomes yours.
2020 was a difficult year on so many different levels, and for
some more than others, but we managed to pull through. We would all like to go
back to our old way of life, to freely hug our friends and loved ones. We are
not quite there yet, but will slowly get there.
At this time there is one thing for sure, in 2021 I will be doing what I love - helping my clients find success in their real estate endeavors.
